Arnold Helbling studied at the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst, Basel, and has lived in New York since 1990.

He has exhibited at White Columns, Roebling Hall, the Swiss Institute, Artists Space, and Deutsches Haus at NYU, as well as at the University of New England (Portland, ME), Binghamton University Art Museum (NY), the Islip Art Museum (NY), and the University of Southern Maine (Portland). International exhibitions include Sungkok Art Museum (Seoul), Aargauer Kunsthaus (Aarau), Helmhaus (Zurich), Kunstmuseum Zug, Kunstverein Riehen, and Centre Pasqu’Art (Biel).

 

His work is held in public collections including the New School University (New York), Neuberger Museum of Art, SUNY Purchase, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Art Gallery of South Australia (Adelaide), National Museum of Australia (Canberra), Aargauer Kunsthaus (Aarau), Kunstmuseum Zug, Centre Pasqu’Art (Biel), University of Basel, Stadt Zürich, and the Schweizerische Eidgenossenschaft (Bern).

 

Helbling has been reviewed in Art in America, Kunst-Bulletin, Arte Al Limite, The New York Times, Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Aarauer Zeitung, and The Korea Times. He received Swiss National Grants in 1990 and 1993, and the Förderpreis Kanton Aargau in 1987.
