At the center of BALANCE 1 is the shadow of a human figure with its arms outstretched. The sculptural installation breaks decisively from the traditional form of painting. The standing figure’s “spine” is constructed from fragments of discarded painting frames, while sprawling elements of paint on sheets of plastic are taped, pinned, or simply rested against the wall. The golem-like figure gradually dissolves into a network of lines, connection points, speech bubbles, photocopied images, and painted abstract marks, blurring the boundaries between painting, sculpture, and drawing.
